"costly and arduous"
"We are thrilled, our staff are thrilled, our customers are thrilled."
"We're very proud of what we do here, we're creators of beautiful spaces and a phenomenal experience for thousands of people a year."
The Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich won an appeal allowing continued outdoor service after a council enforcement notice ordering removal of riverside seating was quashed. The pub has provided tables overlooking the Thames for three decades and dates back to 1837. Greenwich Council argued the seating blocked river views, added visual clutter to a sensitive heritage site, and impeded pedestrian, wheelchair and pushchair access. The Planning Inspectorate overturned the enforcement notice after more than 2,000 letters opposed the removal. The tavern must submit detailed plans for future outside arrangements by the end of the year. The owner warned the notice could have cost about 75 jobs.
