"From learning a language to building confidence and work experience, Erasmus+ offers transformative opportunities to enhance young people's life chances, said UK skills minister Jacqui Smith."
"Strengthening those ties further makes perfect sense on both sides -- for our students, teachers, educational systems, economies and societies as a whole, stated European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen."
The UK and EU agreed on terms for the UK to rejoin the Erasmus+ program in 2024, with an expected benefit for over 100,000 participants in the first year. The UK will contribute £570 million towards the scheme's costs, reflecting a 30 percent discount on the default contribution rate. Eligible participants include students, apprentices, and young people, who will engage in placements and cultural exchanges. The British Council will return as the UK's national agency for the program, facilitating navigation for participants and organizations.
