The UK and Norway reached a £10bn agreement for Britain to supply at least five Type 26 frigates to the Norwegian navy. The deal will create a combined UK-Norwegian fleet of 13 anti-submarine frigates to operate jointly in northern Europe and bolster NATO's northern flank. Construction will occur at BAE Systems' Govan shipyards in Glasgow, supporting over 2,000 jobs there and around 4,000 UK jobs overall, plus supply chain work for more than 400 British businesses. The agreement prevailed over bids from France, Germany and the United States and represents Norway's largest defence investment to date.
