Tube staff to strike over pay and work conditions
Briefly

Rolling strike action will affect the London Underground beginning Friday 5 September for seven days, with staff at different grades striking at different times. The RMT cites unresolved complaints about pay, fatigue management, extreme shift rotations, a reduced working week, and alleged failures to honour prior agreements. The union says management refused to engage on those demands and adopted a "dismissive approach", which has "fuelled widespread anger and distrust" among the workforce. Docklands Light Railway workers will also strike during the week beginning 7 September in a separate pay-and-conditions dispute. The RMT says it will continue to engage management to seek a revised offer and a negotiated settlement. Transport for London was approached for comment.
"Fatigue and extreme shift rotations are serious issues impacting on our members health and wellbeing- all of which have not been adequately addressed for years by LU management."
On Thursday, RMT accused management of a "dismissive approach", adding this had "fuelled widespread anger and distrust" among the workforce.
"RMT will continue to engage LU management with a view to seeking a revised offer in order to reach a negotiated settlement."
