TII re-affirm ongoing commitment to delivering relief road in Cork

Transport Infrastructure Ireland provided a timeline for the Mallow Relief Road at an Oireachtas Transport Committee meeting in Dáil Éireann. Officials reiterated commitment to delivering the project and described a visible pathway forward. The projected process, assuming no judicial review, includes submission for planning by the end of 2026, about one year for planning, one year for analysis and procurement, and two years for construction. Labour Party TD Eoghan Kenny welcomed the clarity and said engagement with TII was important for honesty about the project’s status. €600,000 was allocated for the N72/N73 Mallow Relief Road this year. The road is presented as essential for reducing congestion, improving safety, and supporting economic growth in North Cork.
