A 21-year-old UCL student, Camille Brown, created a petition calling on Transport for London to introduce women-only carriages on the London Underground; it has gained more than 7,800 signatures. Brown cites a rise in public harassment and sexual offences on TfL services, noting 907 sexual offences in the first six months of 2025, up from 879 in 2024, and a 10 percent rise from 2,418 to 2,671 reported offences from 2023 to 2024. A longer-term investigation showed reports of sexual assaults and harassment on trains rose by more than a third over the past decade. Brown recounts childhood safety measures and a specific harassment incident on the Circle Line and calls for action from the mayor to make the Tube safer for women and girls.
