"I am scheduled to attend a service and to participate in an Act of Remembrance in Parliament Buildings before travelling to Windsor Castle at the invitation of their majesties the king and queen for a special reception to commemorate VJ Day 80th anniversary to honour veterans of World War II, and in particular of the Pacific on this day of remembrance."
"I would like to see a united Ireland in my term as president. I will use my voice in every way possible for that vision to be a reality. Obviously, it has to be done by consensus with respect for all communities and all traditions. Personally, I would love to see it in my tenure as president."
Michelle O'Neill will attend the presidential inauguration at Dublin Castle. Emma Little-Pengelly received an invitation but cannot attend because Remembrance Day commitments require her to attend a service and an Act of Remembrance at Parliament Buildings and then travel to Windsor Castle for a VJ Day 80th anniversary reception with the king and queen to honour World War II veterans. Little-Pengelly wished Catherine Connolly well in taking office and hopes to speak with her soon. Catherine Connolly intends to visit the North first as president and plans to use her voice to pursue Irish unity by consensus, respecting all communities and traditions.
