Prime Minister Keir Starmer regrets welcoming British-Egyptian activist Alaa Abd El Fattah to the UK after old social media posts surfaced that included calls to kill Zionists. He described the posts as "abhorrent" and said he was not aware of them at the time of welcoming El Fattah. Conservatives, Reform UK and some senior Labour MPs have called for Mr Abd El Fattah to be stripped of his British citizenship. Sir Keir has launched a review into what he called a failing in the system, and said remedial action is being taken. The case was treated as a consular case.
