A former staff member is alleged to have placed listening devices in the office of an unnamed SNP MSP in late 2023. The person no longer works for an elected representative but holds an office-bearer role in a local party branch. The Presiding Officer was reportedly informed. The Scottish Parliament states MSPs are responsible for managing their own staff and disputes as employers. The SNP says it has no involvement in parliamentarians' employment processes and describes the situation as traumatic, asserting nobody should face fear or harassment while doing their job. The MSP has been approached for comment.
