Sadiq Khan reveals what really happened when Rachel Reeves 'kicked him out of her office'
"The London mayor insisted he had never been thrown out of anybody's office but did not deny that they may have fallen out. I don't know the exact words she used, but it was very fraternal, as it always is when I see the Chancellor, Sir Sadiq said. The Standard reported last month that Ms Reeves had told the mayor to get out of my office during a disagreement earlier this year over funding for the capital, including major transport projects."
"Asked by Mr Georgiou whether he was playing with semantics and had actually been asked to leave, though not technically kicked out, Sir Sadiq said he could not recall the exact words used but described the exchange as fraternal. Sir Sadiq was asked whether the story had been leaked by his aides at City Hall. I can say with confidence that my team doesn't leak, he said"
Sadiq Khan denied being thrown out of anybody's office and described his exchange with Chancellor Rachel Reeves as "very fraternal." The Standard reported that Ms Reeves told the mayor to "get out of my office" during a dispute earlier this year over funding for the capital, including major transport projects. Ms Reeves confirmed Government support for the project in her Budget without specifying the amount. At Mayor's Question Time Khan said he had never been thrown out as mayor, minister, MP or lawyer, joked about never receiving a red card or slamming a door, and said he could not recall the exact words used. Khan asserted that his team does not leak.
