Rupert Lowe, a former MP for Great Yarmouth, was recorded making an antisemitic remark about a camera during a parliamentary meeting earlier this year. The comment sparked laughter from those present and has been condemned as outdated and inappropriate by various observers, including a representative for British Jews. Lowe later claimed he did not recall making the statement, suggesting it was meant as a joke. Since being suspended from Reform UK, he is contemplating starting a new political party or joining the Conservatives with potential backing from Elon Musk.
In days gone by you'd call it a Jewish camera, but that would be politically incorrect.
This is bizarre and outdated antisemitic language which has no place in our politics.
I could join the Tories tomorrow if I wanted to.
If he chose to do that, it would be fantastic.
