"In light of the unfortunate tweets I made, for which I profusely apologise, I have now resigned from the Reform party. If I could, I would withdraw my name from the ballot."
"These kinds of racist, antisemitic, xenophobic beliefs have no place in our politics."
"Following an investigation, it is clear Mike Manning did not declare his X account to the party during the vetting process. The party is certain the comments were made by him, finds them unacceptable, and will no longer be supporting his candidacy."
Reform UK withdrew support for Mike Manning after discovery of social media posts described as racist, antisemitic and xenophobic. Manning posted a Facebook apology, stated he resigned from the party and said he would withdraw his name from the ballot if possible. Electoral law prevents removal from ballot papers after publication, so Manning will still appear as a Reform UK candidate. Labour and Liberal Democrats demanded suspension and called the posts sickening; Liberal Democrat deputy leader Daisy Cooper said such beliefs have no place in politics. A Reform spokesperson said Manning failed to declare his X account during vetting and that the party found the comments unacceptable.
