Reform ex-Tory says too many Tory rejects in party
"may be morphing into something I didn't sign up for"
"starting to feel like the Tories 2.0... but only excepting their rejects"
"I'm not against anybody with any political background joining Reform UK. There are some fantastic Conservative MPs and former Conservative MPs who could be, let's say, ideologically aligned with Reform."
"If you're not prepared to question what's going on then you're probably not the right person to be fulfilling any kind of political office, because you do need to question these things."
Jim O'Neill, leader of the Reform group on Blackpool Council, posted a now-deleted social media message expressing frustration that Reform UK may be morphing into a version of the Conservatives that accepts their political 'rejects'. Several high-profile former Conservative MPs have defected to Reform UK in recent months, including Nadine Dorries, Dame Andrea Jenkins and Sir Jake Berry. O'Neill stated he is not opposed to Conservatives joining if ideologically aligned, removed the post to avoid appearing attention-seeking during party conference, stood by his comment, and declined to confirm any plans to leave.
