The Post Office has invested over £600 million into the malfunctioning Horizon IT system, despite acknowledging the need for a replacement over a decade ago. Initial plans to replace Horizon with systems by IBM and Amazon were abandoned, and the in-house New Branch IT system (NBIT) has faced significant delays and cost overruns. The Post Office now expects to collaborate with Fujitsu until at least 2030, amid changes aimed at restructuring the organization for the future.
