Peter Murrell is charged with embezzling £459,000 from the SNP between August 2010 and January 2023. The indictment alleges illicit purchases including luxury goods, jewellery, cosmetics, two cars and a motorhome. He is due to appear at the High Court in Glasgow on 20 February for a preliminary hearing. Murrell previously made no plea at an initial appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and was granted bail. He was arrested in 2023 as part of Operation Branchform and charged with embezzlement in April 2024. Nicola Sturgeon was questioned but is no longer under investigation. The papers allege falsified documentation to disguise purchases.
