"no space for transphobia"
"new kind of political party... one that is rooted in our communities, trade unions and social movements, one that builds power in all regions and nations. One that belongs to you"
"I agree, women's rights and safe spaces should not be encroached upon. Safe third spaces should be an alternative option."
Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn launched a new left-wing party in July as part of a six-MP Independent Alliance while a permanent name is to be decided in autumn. The group presents itself as a new kind of political party rooted in communities, trade unions and social movements and claims to build power across regions and nations. More than 800,000 people joined the party mailing list by the end of August. Questions emerged over the party's stance on transgender people after perceived silence and a controversial post from another member. Sultana emphasized a clear commitment to trans rights and anti-racist values.
