Diane Abbott has been suspended from the Labour Party for a second time due to comments about racism she previously apologized for. She doubled down on her stance, stating there is a distinction between racism based on skin color and other forms of racism. Abbott has faced criticism for her remarks, which led to backlash from Jewish and Traveller groups. She has been suspended pending an investigation, with a party spokesperson stating that they cannot provide further comments during this period. The MP has a long history in Parliament, entering in 1987.
Clearly, there must be a difference between racism which is about colour and other types of racism because you can see a Traveller or a Jewish person walking down the street, you don't know. I just think that it's silly to try and claim that racism which is about skin colour is the same as other types of racism.
Ms Abbott has been suspended 'pending an investigation.' We cannot comment further while this investigation is ongoing.
