Met Police brace as UKIP protest and pro-Palestine demo to descend on central London
"Police are braced as protesters are to descend on central London, as concerns were raised over the proximity between pro-Palestine and UK Independence Party (UKIP) rallies. Two counter protests to the right-wing UKIP demo are planned in London tomorrow. Conditions mean each set of protesters are obliged to remain in areas defined by police, with pro-Palestinian demonstrators contained between Downing Street and Whitehall Place and Ukip supporters within the north terrace of Trafalgar Square."
"Protesters march in Westminster Pro-Palestine groups which are part of the Palestine Coalition will march from Russell Square past Trafalgar Square and end at Whitehall tomorrow afternoon. The Met Police said the demonstrators must not deviate from this agreed route and the march can't start before 12.45pm tomorrow. Speeches must end by 5pm and the demo should be over by 6pm, in order to prevent serious disruption and disorder police force said."
Police have defined separate areas for pro-Palestinian and UKIP demonstrations in central London and imposed strict route and timing conditions. Pro-Palestinian groups from the Palestine Coalition will march from Russell Square past Trafalgar Square and finish at Whitehall, with the march not to start before 12.45pm, speeches ending by 5pm and the demonstration ending by 6pm. UKIP supporters are confined to the north terrace of Trafalgar Square for their 'March With Jesus' event, instructed to start in Marble Arch after being banned from assembling in Tower Hamlets, and told not to set off before 12.45pm; speeches must end by 3pm and dispersal by 3.30pm. The Met Police warned participants to stick to agreed routes to prevent serious disruption.
