Senior figures and activists called for members to have a say in candidate selection for the Gorton and Denton by-election, warning that Reform UK could win the seat. Seventeen local Labour members wrote to Keir Starmer saying their future had been played by Westminster and demanded the NEC reverse its decision so Burnham and others can stand.
