"Keir Starmer has bought a pair of personalised silver cufflinks which were given to him by Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, according to the latest transparency records. The cufflinks, which were worth more than 140, were an official gift from the Trumps during the US president's second state visit last September. They were the second gift from Trump that Starmer has chosen to buy, having paid for a personalised necklace last year."
"In return he received a personalised silver necklace, personalised silver cufflinks and a personalised golf club. His wife, Victoria, received a pair of women's cowboy boots. The Cabinet Office said last year Starmer had chosen to buy the necklace, but that the cufflinks, golf club and cowboy boots had all been retained by the department. The prime minister only recently decided to buy the cufflinks, according to officials."
Keir Starmer bought personalised silver cufflinks presented by Donald and Melania Trump during the US president's state visit, with the items valued above £140. Official rules require the government to keep ministerial gifts worth more than £140 unless the recipient pays that value. Downing Street did not disclose the exact cufflink value, which were reportedly purchased as a gift for the prime minister's son. During the visit, gifts exchanged included a ministerial red box and a Ukrainian-designed silk scarf from Starmer, and a necklace, cufflinks, golf club and cowboy boots received in return. Several other gifts from world leaders and companies were retained by the department rather than bought.
