'I don't understand' - council meeting descends into chaos
Kirklees Council remained without a majority and without a leader following a chaotic annual meeting. Reform UK gained 29 of 69 seats and became the largest party, but it did not secure a majority. Reform leader Sarah Wood and Green Party leader Andrew Cooper both put themselves forward to lead the authority. The leadership vote was abandoned when some new councillors, including Wood, admitted they did not understand all the rules. As a result, voting was postponed, leaving the council unable to confirm leadership at the meeting.
