Greens gain second Haringey councillor as Independent Socialist defects
Briefly

Mark Blake, previously a Labour councillor, announced his switch to the Green Party in June 2023, following the Green Party's notable by-election success in Haringey. Citing a pressing need for a progressive counter to the increasing far-right sentiments in the UK, Blake emphasized how Green policies resonate with his values and those of his constituents. His move marks a significant evolution for the Green Party in Haringey, as they welcome a second councillor, which reflects growing support for their broader agenda beyond environmental concerns, addressing key issues such as the cost-of-living crisis.

For Haringey Greens to go from the first Green councillor in the history of the borough to the second one in the space of about two months is huge.
