Conflict between countries will dominate next 20 years, says former top UK government official
Briefly

Simon Case, former head of the civil service, warns that the next 10 to 20 years will be characterized by inter-state conflict. In an interview, he calls for the UK to consider new nuclear deterrent options, including deploying land or jet-fired missiles, as part of its upcoming strategic defence review. He emphasizes that reliance on a single deterrent system is unwise and suggests increasing UK defense spending to 3%, highlighting the urgency for the government to prepare for future conflicts as global tensions rise.
In my view you wouldn't rely on a single system for anything. That's true in many walks of life, let alone nuclear deterrence.
As I look out on my children's lives, the next 10 and probably 20 years is going to be dominated by this inter-state conflict.
