Badenoch presses Starmer to strike Iranian missile sites

"They need to do more than that, they need to stop the missile sites, you need to go to the source. If you have someone with a gun shooting, stopping the bullets is not enough, you need to go after the weapon. You can't always wait for people to attack you. Sometimes you have to make sure that you get there first to stop their ability to hurt your citizens."

She argues that defensive measures alone are insufficient and advocates for offensive action against the source of threats. Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy acknowledged legal grounds exist for such strikes as defensive responses. However, the UK government has not changed its position: it permits US defensive operations from British bases but does not plan independent RAF strikes on Iranian facilities. The UK military focuses on intercepting airborne threats while the US targets launch sites in Iran.
