Almost 4,000 deportation orders overturned in the last decade, figures reveal
Briefly

Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín highlighted that the Irish government under ministers Helen McEntee and Simon Harris has been overturning more deportation orders than enforcing them, with a significant disparity in the figures. In the last ten years, 3,848 deportation orders have been quashed. Tóibín emphasized the need for a fair immigration system that balances support with enforcement integrity. Despite publicized deportation flights, the government is perceived to be less strict than it claims, as many deportation orders ultimately are not carried out after appeals and judicial reviews are considered.
The Government is currently overturning more deportation orders in the State than they're enforcing, which is incredible," said Peadar Tóibín TD, leader of Aontú, citing figures from a reply to a parliamentary question.
Even in the cases where they are issued and received, a significant number will actually be overturned, the figures show. The Government is posing as being stricter and tougher on this issue, when in an actual fact, they're not.
