Windrush line staff vote for three-day strike
"Some workers on one of London's Overground lines have planned three days of strike action in a dispute over pay. Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) are due to walk out for 24 hours on 26 February, 26 March and 23 April on the Windrush line. The union said its members, who work on signalling and telecoms, have been offered a 1.5% pay rise, which they said was "derisory"."
"RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said: "Our members have been insulted with such a derisory offer and have no choice but to take strike action." A spokesperson for TfL said: "We urge the RMT and Cleshar CS Ltd to work together to resolve this dispute over pay and conditions. "We are assessing the impact of potential strike action and are putting plans in place to help minimise any disruption for our customers.""
Signalling and telecoms workers on London's Windrush Overground line have planned three 24-hour strikes on 26 February, 26 March and 23 April over pay. Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) are the workers taking action. The workers say they were offered a 1.5% pay rise and describe the offer as derisory. Contractor Cleshar employs the signalling and telecoms staff on behalf of Transport for London (TfL). TfL has urged Cleshar and the RMT to work together to resolve the dispute. TfL is assessing potential strike impact and preparing plans to minimise disruption for customers. The dispute follows a five-day RMT London Underground walk-out in September over pay and conditions.
