However, for the sun-seekers arriving on the Mediterranean coastline for festival week this year, there's been one problem the weather."
"We came to watch Cheltenham in the sun with cheap beer and hotels but the rain, well, we could be in Cheltenham, said Daniel Sewell, who is in the popular resort from Monday to Thursday. The 35-year-old from Warrington booked the week away with friends as a combined stag do."
During Cheltenham Festival week, growing numbers of attendees are choosing to travel to Benidorm, Spain, attracted by significantly lower costs for accommodation and beverages compared to staying in the UK. A group of 14 friends from Warrington booked an apartment for £800 total with return flights at £130 per person, seeking to combine the festival experience with a budget-friendly vacation. However, unseasonable rainfall has disrupted their plans, forcing visitors indoors and preventing the outdoor festivities they anticipated. While Cheltenham experiences warm winter sunshine, Benidorm's wet weather has left outdoor screens rolled up and seating areas largely empty, disappointing sun-seekers who expected Mediterranean conditions.
