Nerys Bethan Lloyd, a paddleboard instructor, was sentenced to ten years and six months for gross negligence manslaughter after the tragic deaths of four participants on the Cleddau River. Despite weather warnings and a flood alert, Lloyd failed to provide crucial safety briefings or warn her group about the weir. As a result of her negligence, the group was dragged over the weir, leading to their deaths in October 2021. Lloyd initially lied about the situation and attempted to deflect blame onto another instructor, Paul O'Dwyer, although he too was a victim of the incident.
