UK synagogue attack: Police likely shot one victim DW 10/04/2025
"It happened on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Authorities identified the perpetrator as a 35-year-old Syrian-born British citizen, who drove into pedestrians outside the synagogue and attacked with a knife before being shot dead by police. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said it appears one of the dead may have been inadvertently shot by armed officers since the attacker was not carrying a firearm."
"GMP chief constable Steve Watson, in a statement, called it a "tragic and unforeseen consequence of the urgently required action" taken by police officers to bring the "vicious" attack to an end. The police complaints watchdog said it was carrying out an investigation into what happened. Two people, Adrian Daulby, and Melvin Cravitz, were killed during the antisemitic attack on the synagogue. The three others injured remain in hospital. Police have declared the incident an act of terrorism."
