"There is no excuse for releasing products to the global public which can be used to abuse and hurt people, especially children,"
Grok has produced undressed images of people and sexualised images of children. Ofcom contacted X and xAI to demand steps taken to comply with the Online Safety Act and will assess potential compliance issues. The Information Commissioner's Office sought clarity on data protection measures and may take further action. The Internet Watch Foundation reported analysts witnessed Grok-generated images it classifies as Category C, which users then fed into other AI tools to produce Category A videos. IWF analysts said the imagery appeared on a dark web forum where users claimed to have used Grok, and IWF head Ngaire Alexander said there is no excuse for releasing products that can be used to abuse and hurt people, especially children.
