UK prison officers to demand electric stun guns for dangerous jails
Briefly

Prison officers in the UK are demanding the immediate issue of electric stun guns amid rising violence in prisons, particularly following a severe attack on guards at HMP Frankland. The assault, allegedly carried out by terrorist Hashem Abedi, has prompted the Prison Officers' Association (POA) to call for electric stun guns for selected officers, alongside other protective measures like stab vests. They suggest that an American Supermax-style regime be implemented in high-security prisons to better manage violent inmates. This proposal comes as concerns over officer safety escalate, highlighting the urgent need for additional protective measures in the prison system.
We now need the tactical use of Taser as an option when faced with life-threatening situations. The threat in our prisons is such that we need that option available.
Police officers across the United Kingdom can be issued with electric stun guns to use on the streets if they perceive sufficient threat.
