Tickets Alert: Attend the Garter Day ceremony in Windsor Castle
"To request tickets, go to the bottom of this page and email your request before the end of February. You can request up to four tickets. IMPORTANT - to make life easier for everyone, when applying for tickets, provide the full name of each applicant, as that's needed for the tickets. An alternative option - and one that comes with rather better seating - is to join the Friends of St George's Chapel, as that includes an opportunity to get tickets to Garter Day."
"Once you're settled on the day, there's the walking parade through the castle grounds to St George's Chapel. The service inside is naturally private but usually broadcast on speakers. It is then followed by a carriage ride back. Although it's a formal royal event, it's also very relaxed. People sit on the lawns, picnicking, and enjoy the usually summery weather in June. It's also one of the rare events where the Royals dress up a bit in fancy clothing rather than their usual day wear."
The Most Noble Order of the Garter is England's highest order of chivalry, founded in 1348, and is granted entirely at the Monarch's discretion. Each June (likely 15th June 2026) members, many VIPs and much of the Royal Family process through Windsor Castle to St George's Chapel for a private service, followed by a carriage return. The parade is on the castle grounds and the service is usually broadcast on speakers. The event combines formal ceremony with a relaxed, picnic-friendly atmosphere and an occasion for Royals to wear formal attire. Free tickets are available by email before the end of February; provide full names and request up to four. Joining the Friends of St George's Chapel offers better seating. Windsor is reachable by train from Waterloo (about an hour) or from Paddington via Slough (about 40 minutes).
