Storm Amy produced winds up to 100mph, causing extensive damage and widespread power outages across Scotland. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) reported that by 9pm on Sunday 76,000 homes had been reconnected, while about 12,000 homes still awaited reconnection. Engineers faced very challenging conditions, including storm debris and fallen trees that impeded access and repair work. Dozens of additional teams from other network operators and contract partners joined the reconnection effort to accelerate repairs. Hot meal provision has been organised for affected residents, and information on compensation and reimbursement is available as restoration continues.
