This major London tube line will have reduced services for four months at the start of 2026
"The middle fork of the black tube line will shut early for four whole months at the start of 2026. If you're looking to get the Northern line into or out of King's Cross St Pancras, Angel, Old Street, Moorgate, Bank, London Bridge, Borough or Elephant & Castle after 10pm, you'll need to find a different route. The early closure will be in place Monday-Thursday, with services running on a revised timetable from 9.30pm each night."
"'We apologise to Northern line customers and local businesses for the disruption that the early closure of the Bank branch will cause. This is to enable us to carry out essential track replacement work to improve the reliability of the line in future and would be very challenging to complete within normal engineering hours. Customers are advised to check before they travel, using TfL's real-time travel information tools to find the quickest alternative for their specific journey.'"
The Northern line Bank branch will close at 10pm Monday-Thursday from 12 January to late May 2026 to allow essential track replacement work. Services will run on a revised timetable from 9.30pm each weeknight. The closure affects stations between Camden Town and Kennington including King's Cross St Pancras, Angel, Old Street, Moorgate, Bank, London Bridge, Borough and Elephant & Castle. The Charing Cross branch will operate normally and will receive an additional four trains per hour on affected nights. Customers are advised to check real-time travel information and find alternative routes for journeys after 10pm on affected weeknights.
