Teen who fired gun in gang war had conviction over prior east London shooting

On July 30, a 16-year-old boy brandished a pistol during a gang clash on Southend High Street, firing at a rival gang. Despite no injuries, the incident left the community terrified. The teen had prior convictions including a firearms incident and was identified in a shooting earlier in November. He received a referral order rather than imprisonment, allowing him to engage in gang conflicts. The clash occurred when his Southside faction planning violence against rival Northside members attending an unauthorized beach party.
CCTV footage captured mothers fleeing a nearby play park with their children due to a pistol being brandished by a 16-year-old during a gang confrontation.
The boy, who received a referral order for a prior firearm conviction, later was involved in a confrontation between rival gangs that terrified the local community.
