Marcus Fakana, 19, died after a vehicle he was a passenger in crashed in Tottenham in the early hours; he was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later died. Metropolitan Police officers attempted to stop the car and pursued it briefly before losing sight; the vehicle was later found crashed. Fakana had been jailed in Dubai after a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old when he was 18 and received a royal pardon from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in July. His lawyer said he was grateful to the British public, had renewed Christian faith, and had suffered prolonged mental anguish from imprisonment. The 19-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of failure to stop and dangerous driving and remains in custody.
