Swedish Migration Minister Johan Forssell announced that the government has not finalized the decision to elevate the work permit salary threshold to the proposed 100 percent of the median salary. The threshold was recently increased from 13,000 kronor to 80 percent of the median salary, with key sectors, particularly healthcare, voicing concerns that further increases could hinder their ability to hire essential staff. The government has requested the Migration Agency to identify professions that might be exempt from these salary thresholds, indicating ongoing debates about the effective implementation of the new rules.
The former threshold was only 13,000 kronor, and we've seen some tremendous problems with that... So there is now a discussion over where this new threshold should be, and we have not decided where it will be yet.
We've also said that for some sectors, there must be exceptions... But no formal decision has yet been made.
