Suitcase murderer jailed for at least 40 years
"Sentencing Mosquera to a minimum of 40 years and 264 days, Judge Justice Bennathan said: "I stress that is a minimum, you may never be safe to set free". He added that the murders, which took place on 11 July 2024, were "thoroughly wicked crimes". Mosquera had a blank expression while he was being sentenced. After the judge finished speaking, Mosquera smiled as he shook his interpreter's hand and then he smiled at the court before he was led down."
"Earlier Mosquera had pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing indecent images of children, for which he was sentenced to 16 months in jail. He will serve this sentence concurrently with his double-murder sentence. Mr Justice Bennathan said Mosquera was "actively involved in a network sharing indecent images of children". The judge added: "Your laptop contained thousands of appalling pictures and films of the gross sexual abuse of very young children.""
Yostin Mosquera, 35, was convicted of murdering and dismembering Paul Longworth and Albert Alfonso and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 40 years and 264 days. The killings occurred on 11 July 2024; Mosquera decapitated and dismembered the victims at their Shepherd's Bush flat and placed some remains in two suitcases which he dragged to Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. Mosquera pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing indecent images of children and received a concurrent 16-month sentence. The judge described the crimes as thoroughly wicked and noted extensive child abuse material on Mosquera's laptop.
