Andrew Stenning, a former operating department practitioner, was imprisoned for sending obscene messages about sexually abusing a four-year-old girl. Unbeknownst to him, he was communicating with an undercover police officer. While he denied actual abuse, he was charged for publishing obscene content and received a four-month jail sentence. The Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service determined that his actions severely undermined public trust in care professionals, especially those dealing with vulnerable patients, ultimately leading to his removal from the professional register due to a concerning underlying attitude towards children.
"The Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service has now decided that Stenning should be banned from the profession... the matters giving rise to it were serious..."
"...his conviction was likely a reflection of a deep-seated attitude to children. It was therefore decided that Stenning should be struck off from the register."
