Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd returned to jail
"As this case shows, we do not hesitate to send offenders back to prison if they break the rules."
"He's back where he belongs. He's never shown remorse for his part in the death of my daughter. I think about her every day. The pain is never far away. I'll never forgive him and still believe he poses a risk to females."
Jack Shepherd has been recalled to prison after breaching licence conditions more than a year after early release for manslaughter. He served half of a six-year sentence for the River Thames speedboat incident in which Charlotte Brown was fatally thrown from his boat after it struck a submerged tree trunk. Both had been drinking champagne before the trip past the Palace of Westminster. Shepherd was rescued alive; Brown was found unconscious and later died in hospital. Shepherd fled, was convicted in absence in 2018, surrendered in Tbilisi in 2019, and received an additional four-year sentence for attacking a barman to run concurrently.
