Patrick Naughton, 70, was taken from his birth mother, Chrissie Tully, shortly after birth in 1954. After being reunited in 2013, Naughton initiated a fundraiser to assist Tully in purchasing her council home, valued at â¬50,000. Following media coverage, the fundraiser exceeded its goal, raising over â¬71,000. Tully, who believes her first child, Michael, survived despite being told he died, has faced significant hardships throughout her life, including the trauma of forced adoptions experienced in mother and baby homes. Naughton aims to ensure his mother has security, in part, in case Michael returns.
"Chrissie is stunned - the penny hasn't dropped yet. She never believed it would happen in her lifetime. I just can't thank everybody enough."
"We had a wonderful woman in San Diego who was moved by our story and she donated 50,000 dollars. I'm just over the moon."
