Royal Mail to release stamps and use postmark to celebrate 80th VE Day
Briefly

Royal Mail is honoring key figures from the Second World War with a set of 10 stamps and a mini-sheet celebrating Dame Vera Lynn. Featured are individuals like George Arthur Roberts, the first black member of London’s Auxiliary Fire Service, and Mary Morris, who documented her experiences nursing troops post-Dunkirk. Other honorees include war heroes John Harrison, Bhanbhagta Gurung, and codebreaker William Tutte. The postal service will also issue a special VE80 postmark and support the VE Mail initiative to connect schoolchildren with WWII veterans.
Behind every victory of a nation there are countless unsung heroes whose courage and sacrifice shaped the future of the world.
This collection of stamps will honour men and women who made critical contributions and sacrifices during the Second World War, preserving their legacies.
The mini-sheet of stamps features images of Dame Vera Lynn, highlighting her various aspects of service and influence during the war.
This initiative also includes a special VE80 postmark and supports a letter-writing project connecting children with WWII veterans.
