Prince Harry-Daily Mail trial live: Duke joins forces with Elton John legal battle
"From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground."
"Prince Harry and six other high-profile figures are due to have their legal claims against the publisher of the Daily Mail heard at the High Court, after the group accused the newspaper of phone hacking and unlawful information gathering. The Duke of Sussex, Sir Elton John, his husband David Furnish, campaigner Baroness Doreen Lawrence, politician Sir Simon Hughes and actresses Sadie Frost and Liz Hurley are all taking action against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL)."
Prince Harry and six other figures have launched legal claims against Associated Newspapers Limited, accusing the Daily Mail publisher of phone hacking and unlawful information gathering. The claimants include Sir Elton John and David Furnish, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Sir Simon Hughes, Sadie Frost and Liz Hurley. The group alleges the publisher hired private investigators to place listening devices in cars, blagged private records and accessed private phone conversations. Lawyer David Sherborne said unlawful acts included listening to live landline calls and obtaining medical records. A nine-week High Court trial will hear evidence, with Harry due to give witness testimony and several journalists and editors expected to appear.
