Priest arrested outside hotel after he is challenged by 'paedophile hunters'

A 58-year-old man was arrested on April 17 in Derry, following allegations of attempted sexual communication with a minor. The arrest occurred after an encounter with self-styled paedophile hunters. The PSNI reported that the man remains in custody while a video of the incident circulated online. The Diocese of Derry confirmed its awareness of the situation and noted that they had no further information at this time. The diocese oversees 51 parishes across parts of Co Derry, Co Tyrone, Co Donegal, and Co Antrim.
