Power failure shuts down London's tram network
"All services on London Trams are currently suspended due to a power supply issue. We're sorry for any disruption this has caused to our customers and are working at speed with UK Power Networks and our operator to safely reintroduce services as soon as possible."
"The tram network is based in south London and runs from Wimbledon to New Addington, Elmers End and Beckenham Junction."
"Tram tickets are being accepted on local bus services and train services operated by South Western Railway, Southern, Thameslink and Southeastern."
A loss of power at the Therapia Lane Depot early Thursday caused a widespread shutdown of all London tram services. Crews are working with UK Power Networks and the tram operator to restore power and safely reintroduce services as quickly as possible. The tram network serves south London routes between Wimbledon and New Addington, Elmers End, and Beckenham Junction. To reduce passenger disruption, tram tickets are being accepted on local bus services and on trains operated by South Western Railway, Southern, Thameslink and Southeastern while services remain suspended.
