Plans for 24-hour casino turned down by London council amid 'mini Las Vegas' fears
"Just because you don't have objections about this place at 10pm is very different to having multiple casinos at 3am. 240 objectors cannot be wrong."
"Earl's Court shops and homes are in very close proximity and its residents do not want any increase in noise, disturbance or degradation. Not even by a tiny"
Councillors on Kensington and Chelsea Council voted unanimously against removing a condition that limits Admiral Casino's opening hours for its Earl's Court Road shop. Councillor Tim Verboven recused himself because of prior opposition. Councillors cited noise disturbance, the area’s particular vulnerability, and the cumulative impact of extended-hours gambling venues as reasons for the refusal. Admiral Casino argued the original hours condition lacked technical evidence. Local residents mounted a campaign with around 240 objectors, arguing that extended hours would erode the residential character and increase night-time disturbance despite the venue having no recorded complaints since opening.
