"The Booking Hall will be restored to its 19th-century heritage look, fully repainted and enhanced with improved lighting. The cash machine and its housing in the corner of the Booking Hall will be removed, and ticket machines will be relocated to create more space. Two new doors and an extended gate line will ease congestion at the entrance. Platforms 3 and 4 will be remodelled to create extra space, with refurbished toilets."
"The £5 million upgrade is an interim stage, as a £40 million rebuilding project to provide step-free access at the station was put on hold last year. The interim works will be designed to fit in with the full upgrade if it is approved later. The Department for Transport has committed nearly £4m to the improvements, with Southwark Council and The Railway Heritage Trust contributing over £1m more."
