"On arrival, firefighters discovered a paraglider trapped on the roof of the building, where they deployed several ladders to reach the patient. NIFRS said they received a 'Special Service Call' at 12.51pm. "Three appliances, two from Enniskillen and one from Lisnaskea, the Specialist Rescue Team and a Turntable Ladder are in attendance, NIFRS said. "NIFRS crews have rescued a male from the second floor roof of the hotel, and he is now in the care of NIAS.""
"NIAS confirmed that it received a 999 call at 12.49pm on Sunday 28 December following reports of an incident in the area of Lough Shore Road. NIAS despatched a Rapid Response Paramedic, one Hazardous Area Response Team Crew and one Emergency Crew to the incident. "Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to South West Acute Hospital," an NIAS statement concluded."
Emergency services responded shortly before 1pm to reports of a paraglider collision with the main hotel complex at Lough Erne Resort. Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and the NI Ambulance Service attended, with four fire appliances including the Specialist Rescue Team and a Turntable Ladder deployed. Firefighters found the paraglider trapped on the hotel roof and used several ladders to reach and rescue a male patient from the second-floor roof. NIAS dispatched a Rapid Response Paramedic, a Hazardous Area Response Team crew and an Emergency Crew; the patient received on-scene treatment and was transported to South West Acute Hospital. The resort reopened and bookings were not affected.
