Hoang My Tra Nguyen and Hop Cahn Nguyen were sentenced for their roles in smuggling migrants from France to the UK. They operated Facebook accounts advertising small boat crossings, targeting the Vietnamese community. Both admitted to assisting unlawful immigration and were sentenced to 12 years and 10.5 years in prison, respectively. Their operation included arranging crossings and helping migrants abscond after their claims were processed. The National Crime Agency monitored their activities for five months before their arrests in April 2024.
