NHS to offer take-at-home tablet for MS
Briefly

Starting soon, NHS patients in England with multiple sclerosis will have access to home-based cladribine treatments, reducing hospital visits for injections or infusions. Cladribine is effective for active relapsing-remitting MS and other severe forms. The move aims to enhance patient freedom and optimize clinic resources, with an estimated 2,000 patients benefiting in three years. The full rollout follows NICE's final guidance, and similar implementations are expected in Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. Trials confirm cladribine's efficacy in reducing relapses, and the NHS plans to negotiate pricing with drug companies.
"Being able to take the treatment at home meant I could maintain my day-to-day routine and not have to travel to hospital. I'm thrilled that the new criteria will now give others like me the opportunity to benefit from this life-changing medication."
